Russian-Icelandic Institute of Renewable Energy (RIIRE) is the result of effective cooperation between RES School for Renewable Energy Science of Iceland and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of Russia. The motivation of the agreement between the two schools that led to the formal establishment of the Institute was to lay emphasis on the importance of sustainable energy development, building competence in renewable energy science and initiating research within the field.

From the formal establishment of RIIRE in Moscow 2007


RIIRE is a young and ambitious institution with its headquarters being in Iceland, a country renowned for its unique geological conditions and for the greatest consumption of renewable energy per capita in the world. Its commitment to an exceptional quality of education provides for the challenges of rigorous curriculum and a creative study environment that are being met and adequately responded to every day.

  1. An international Master’s program in Renewable Energy Science focusing on all forms of renewable energy sources, in addition to fuel cell systems and technologies, and hybrid energy systems and policies.
